Peanut Butter Funk Launches at The Book Club with Reginald Omas Mamode IV and XOA
Saturday 24th February will see the launch of The Book Club’s
new afro-centric party series Peanut
Butter Funk. The night will celebrate present, past and future sounds from
the Caribbean, South America and the African continent and also explore the
outer peripheries disco, funk, soul, highlife, dub, hip-hop, broken beat and
beyond.
The party launches with a very special guests Reginald Omas Mamoode & Xoa joining us for our inaugural party. Reginald hails from south London and is part of exciting younge collective 22a. His 2017 self titled album capped of a great year for Reginald with tastemakers including Gilles Peterson and Alexander Nut all siting it in their top albums of the year.
On top of this we also have XOA joining us for a special DJ Set. Headed up by multi-instrumentalist Nick Tyson, XOA fuses golden era 1970s Afrobeat with deep grooves and contemporary electronic productions sizzling with analogue synths, guitars and percussive rhythms. We can’t wait to hear what he digs out this Feb but its sure to be special.
Peanut Butter Funk resident DJs Sounddhism and Onyeara will be spinning a host of global dance music from around the globe in support.
