Event Details
We’re throwing our next shakedown of 2018 at our East London home, The Book Club this August and inviting 2 of our artists DJs down for the night to celebrate with us in the form of Tenerloneous & Jeen Bassa
On the spinners for this one we’ve got 22a bossman, Tenderlonious and 22a affiliate Jeen Bassa. Tenderlonious is head of 22a Music, a record label making waves the forefront of a new wave of young London-based musicians. A gifted multi-instrumentalist, his improvised soul-flavoured productions have caught the attention of tastemakers Gilles Peterson, Benji B, Osunlade, Lefto and Alexander Nut to name a few. Aside from his own label he has also released music on Ninja Tune, Brownswood Recordings, Sounds of the Universe and Yoruba Records.
Jeen Bassa is
known as one of the Deenmamode brothers (aka.
Mo Kolours & Reginald Omas Mamode IV one of our past guests). Widely
renowned for his work with 22a Records and collaborations with Henry Wu [
Rhythm Section / Yussef Kamaall], Bassa graces Stereo with his fusion of
slo-mo, mechanised funk, neon soul, jazz and hip-hop. Pulling inspiration and
styles from all around the globe, prepare yourselves for a truly unique set.
As always they will be joined on the night by
the PBF & Sounddhism DJs, plus Book Club resident Onyeara on warm-up
duties. As with all our events, we will be celebrating a mixture of global
sounds present, past and future from the Caribbean, South America, and the
African continent as well as delving through the outer peripheries of global
disco, funk, soul, highlife, dub, hip-hop, broken beat and beyond so get down
ready to dance!
Music Policy: disco, funk, soul, highlife,
afrobeat, dub, hip-hop, broken beat and beyond.
