Welcome to the Anti Diet Riot Club!

If you haven't noticed, we are in the midst of a post-Christmas & NYE diet-culture frenzy. It’s pretty much everywhere you look. Adverts on TV, slimming powder posters on the tube, exercise posts on Instagram, brutal e-marketing from gyms, endless talk of diets in the workplace. For most of us, at times like these it is almost impossible not to develop some sort of resentment towards our bodies, to want to change them, shrink them, tone them, “punish”, “destroy”, “wreck” and “break” them (looking at you Gymbox!)

The Anti Diet Riot Club is launching to FIGHT BACK against these unattainable ideals, dangerous messages, and outright marketing scams! For our first ever event we are inviting a personal hero of ours, Megan Jayne Crabbe to talk to us about Being Body Powerful.

Megan is a campaigner, writer, published author and well known for her Instagram account @bodyposipanda where she posts daily to her 900k+ followers about body acceptance and eating disorder recovery. She firmly claims that Body Positivity saved her life, after spending most of it hating her body and being diagnosed with anorexia nervosa at 14. Although she managed to make a recovery from almost losing her life, Megan spent the following years yo-yo dieting, repeatedly gaining and losing hundreds of pounds, and maintaing a hugely negative relationship with food and exervise - until she found the BoPo community. All of this and more is detailed in her Best-selling book 'Body Positive Power', which we highly recommend!

But what's it been like for Megan after publishing her book and being an 'influencer' to so many thousands of people online? How has the BoPo movement changed for her? And crucially, what can we learn from her about embracing our own bodies moving forward? We're so excited to hear Megan talk, she's an incredibly inspiring woman and we're excited to learn some practical tools for living a diet-free life!

The doors to the talk will open at 7pm, although the venue is open prior to that if you want to arrive early for drinks and food (menu here). The event will start at 7.30 with some time after Megan's talk for Q&A and to mingle!

LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING YOU ALL THERE <3
